VIROQUA — After dropping three games in the WIPH Holiday Classic Dec. 27-28, Rock County Fury rebounded for a 5-0 win over Viroqua on Saturday, Jan. 6.

“After a tough holiday tournament, the team bounced back and had good game,” Fury head coach Luke Steurer said. “They were moving the puck a lot better in the offensive zone and getting plenty of shots. It was great to see our team rebound from a couple tough losses after Christmas.”

Macy Murphy’s second period goal was all the Fury needed, but she finished off a hat trick in the third period with two more goals. Emma Kligora also tallied two goals in the third in the 5-0 final.

Ava Kligora assisted in four of the five goals for a team-best four points. Emma Kligora, who also tallied an assist, finished with three points, as did Murphy. Defensively, Rock County allowed just 10 shots on goal. Jillian Traver earned the shutout, which is her third of the season.

Rock County will be hosting its annual Mental Health Awareness game against the University School of Milwaukee at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16. All proceeds will be donated to NAMI Rock County. Donations can be made to Fury Booster Club by check or Venmo.
