Darlington ends 2019 with blowout Ws

LANCASTER — Darlington’s boys basketball team won the Lancaster Tournament played Dec. 27-28.

The fourth-ranked Redbirds took out Potosi 81-44 on Day 1, then turned around and defeated Lancaster 82-57 in the championship Dec. 28.

Carter Lancaster scored 39 points combined in the two games, while Cayden Rankin had 38, Ross Stauffacher 31, Curtis Stone 22 and Easton Evenstad 17.

Darlington led Potosi 48-18 after the first half of the semifinals. In the finals, the Redbirds led the host Arrows just 34-29 at the break before going on a 48-8 run in the second half.


Warriors 0-2 at Platteville Jamboree

PLATTEVILLE — Black Hawk lost two games at the Platteville Jamboree Dec. 27-28. 

River Ridge (Ill.) defeated the Warriors 85-69 in the first game of the tournament. On Day 2, Black Hawk fell behind Fennimore 47-16 by halftime and lost to the Eagles 68-33.


Albany 0-2 at River Ridge Tournament

RIVER RIDGE — Albany dropped two nonconference games Dec. 28.

The Comets lost to Iowa-Grant 89-32 in one game, and fell to Calvary Christian (Ill.) in the other 58-42.

Albany trailed Iowa-Grant 50-16 at halftime, and fell behind Calvary Christian 29-19 at the break in the second game.

Rob Schroeder scored 18 points in the tournament to lead Albany. Jevon Ferguson had 17 points and Clay Hulbert 13.


Brodhead 68, Parkview 45

ORFORDVILLE — Owen Leifker scored 15 points, Conner Green had 12 and Cade Walker added 11 as the Cardinals picked up a nonconference win Dec. 27.

Brodhead was 28 of 50 from the field and 7 of 18 from beyond the arc, while the Vikings were just 20 of 62 from the field and 1 of 15 from deep.


Argyle 58, New Lisbon 56

ITHACA — The Orioles moved to 4-3 on the season with a nonconference win against New Lisbon at the Ithaca Tournament Dec. 27.

Argyle led 33 at halftime and hung onto the lead in the second half.
