PLATTEVILLE — The Albany track and field team had eight top-three finishes — five from the boys alone — in the UW-Platteville High School Invitational on Thursday, March 30.
Bryce Hughes led the way in sprints, finishing first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.99 seconds. He also qualified for the 55-meter dash finals, where he took second with a time of 6.81 seconds.
Caleb Smith also took first in the shot put with a throw of 43 feet, 10 inches. It was his second straight meet winning the event.
On the girls side, the relay team of Ava Ahnen, McKenna Broughton, Linsey Mueller and Ellie Modaff took first in the 4x800 with a time of 11:47.46.
Individually, Ahnen finished second in the 1600-meter run with a sub-six minute time: 5:59.95. Gage Roth also took second in the 1600-meter run with his time of 5:20.08.
Ethan Koss and Lillyanna Morles finished third in their respective events. Koss ran the 400-meter dash in a timem of 58.87 seconds, and Morales recorded a throw of 30-03.75 in the shot put.
Ray Valentine was the only top-five finisher for Monticello. He took fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.13 seconds.
