MONROE — The Cheesemakers gave up a late rally against Fort Atkinson May 24 to lose 5-4, then rallied to topple Stoughton 16-8 on the road the next night.
Against Fort, a 4-run second inning put the Cheesemakers ahead 4-1. That lead stuck until the top of the seventh inning, when Fort plated four runs on four Monroe errors and zero hits.
Monroe collected just four hits in the game. Sarah Prien was 1-for-1 with a walk, a run and two RBIs on a double in the second inning. Emma Wild gave up just one earned run in seven innings on seven hits and four walks, plus a hit batter.
Against Stoughton, Monroe fell behind 8-5 after the third inning, but closed the game with 11 unanswered runs.
Alyse Maurer was 4-for-5 with a double three RBIs, two runs and a walk. Sydney Updike was 3-for-5 with a walk, four RBIs and two runs. Katie Hayes finished a triple shy of the cycle, collecting three hits, smashing a home run and a double, and driving in a pair. Karis Paulson and Katrina Sathoff each had two hits. Wild went the distance on the mound, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits and four walks.
Brodhead 10, Whitewater 0
BRODHEAD — McKenna Young struck out 12 and allowed just two baserunners in a 5-inning no-hitter May 25. At the plate, Young was 3-for-3 with a double and two homers, driving in four runners. Sophia Leitzen and Taetum Hoesly also homered for the Cardinals.
Argyle 5, Monticello-New Glarus 1
ARGYLE — Grace Ganshert struck out 16 batters while walking one and giving up two hits against the Ponies May 24.
Megan Larson, Hannah Gierhart and Jenny Holfvogt each had two hits, while Oliva Isley, Megan Johnson and Tori Lantz walked twice. Larson also drove in three runs. Katelyn Eyler and Jaden Zuber had the only two hits for MNG. Zuber also walked.
Argyle 5, Barneveld 4
ARGYLE — Johnson finished with three hits, a double and two RBIs, and Ganshert had a hit, a walk and two runs scored as the Orioles picked up a major Six Rivers East win May 25.
On the mound, Ganshert struck out seven and gave up six hits with zero walks while allowing just two earned runs.
Riverdale 13, Darlington 4
RIVERDALE — A 4-run top of the fifth inning gave the Redbirds a 4-3 lead on their counterparts May 24, only for a quick turn in fortune in the next half inning. Riverdale scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth and tacked on another in the sixth to roll to victory.
Josie Thomas pitched 5.1 innings for Darlington, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Sophie Wiegel gave up six runs (two earned) in 2/3 innings of work.
Riverdale’s Carlie Jo Brownlee struck out 14 in seven innings, giving up just two earned runs on two walks and four hits.
