Butler becomes BH all-time leading scorer

BARNEVELD — With a pair of free throws on Jan. 29, Black Hawk senior Bailey Butler tied and then surpassed former teammate Natalie Leuzinger as the school’s all-time scoring leader. The Warriors went on win 77-49 to seal the Six Rivers East championship — as well as the team’s 70th straight victory, third-best all-time in Wisconsin history.

Butler finished with 32 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. Raylin Peterson added 13 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting night. Kaylee Marty added 12 points. Black Hawk led by just 10 at halftime, but outscored the Eagles by 18 in the second half.

The night before, Black Hawk steamrolled Juda 77-19. The Warriors led 57-13 at halftime.

Butler had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Marty finished with 18 points and Makayla Mau added 9 points.


Darlington 49, Parkview 20

ORFORDVILLE — Taylor Wedig scored 22 points to pace the Redbirds offense in a nonconference win Jan. 28. It was the 10th time this season she’s gone into double figures, and is averaging 11.1 points per game this season.

Laura Sturtz added 9 points for Darlington, which improved to 10-9 on the season.


New Glarus 76, Waterloo 56

WATERLOO — The Glarner Knights scored an emphatic win two days before the regional seeding meeting. 

New Glarus jumped out to a 46-33 lead at halftime, and slowed down Waterloo’s attack in the second half, holding the host Pirates to just 23 points over the final 18 minutes.

Freshman Lindsey Schadewalt scored 21 points to lead New Glarus, while senior Jaylynn Benson, the program’s all-time scoring leader, added to her career mark with 17 points. Alex Atwell chipped in 11, and Emma Marty finished with 9 points. Waterloo’s Skyler Powers led all scorers with 23 points.


Pecatonica 40, Iowa-Grant 20

LIVINGSTON — The Vikings led 18-16 at halftime but kept the Panthers at bay the entire second half, outscoring the home team 22-4 to seal the nonconference victory Jan. 28.

Lexi Peterson led Pecatonica with 16 points, while Chloe Schraepfer finished with 11.


Pecatonica 53, Wisconsin Heights 46, OT

BLANCHARDVILLE — The Vikings led 25-22 at halftime, but the Vanguards pushed the game into overtime tied at 45. In the extra session, Pecatonica outscored Heights 8-1.

Schraepfer and Tessa Green each scored 14 points to pace the Vikings. Peterson added 11 and Anna Tisch tallied 8 points. Hannah King led Heights with 16.
