Brodhead’s Oliver qualifies for D2 state

LA CROSSE — Brodhead sophomore Nolan Oliver is the lone area golfer to qualify for the WIAA state golf tournament.

Oliver shot an 11-over-par 83 at the Division 2 Sectional at La Crosse County Club in Onalaska on June 1.

Edgewood won the team title with a 327, and Edgerton took second at 344. Brodhead finished tied for fourth with host Aquinas at 360, 11-shots behind third-place Lodi.

Brodhead’s Grant Purdue shot an 88, with Onni Oliver carding a 92, Jacob Moyer a 97 and Austin Moe a 111.

Monroe’s Bert Leach shot a 90; Nolan Bodenstein of New Glarus finished with a 92, and Monticello-Belleville sophomore Josh Potter carded a 103.

At the Division 3 Markesan Sectional at Lawsonia — The Links course in Green Lake, Argyle-Pecatonica was ninth of the 12 teams with a 425. Mineral Point (335) won the team title, with Lancaster (357) also advancing to state. Freshman Alex Reutten led Argyle-Pecatonica with a 93. Hunter Lelle shot a 106, with Evan Dochnahl finishing with a 109, and Kyle Theorin and Thomas Nelson each carding a 117. Darlington’s Oscar Thuli had a 103.
