BELOIT — The Fury lost 7-0 to rival Madison Metro Lynx Jan. 27.

The Lynx went ahead 2-0 in the first period and made it 4-0 headed into the second intermission.

The Fury were outshot 47-17. Rock County was penalized eight times in the game to Madison’s four. Four of the eight Fury penalties came in the second period. The Lynx scored on 3 of 8 power plays.

The Fury have just three games remaining in the regular season — Feb. 1 at USM, Feb. 9 at home against Arrowhead, and Feb. 12 at Viroqua.


Whitefish Bay 6, Monroe 4

MONROE — The Monroe boys co-op lost a tight nonconference game Jan. 29.

Whitefish Bay scored the opening goal in the first period, but the Cheesemakers equalized before the intermission on an unassisted goal by Nolan Bodenstein.

Less than two minutes into the second period, Whitefish Bay went up again, only for Monroe to even the score less than 90 seconds later on a second Bodenstein goal, this time with Patrick Alt credited with the assist.

Aiden Grey and Nathan Ratke also scored in the second period, putting the Cheesemakers ahead 4-2 with just over nine minutes left in the frame. However, Whitefish Bay rallied and scored two goals to tie it.

In the third period, Whitefish Bay scored twice — once on a shorthanded goal and the second time on a power play goal with less than four minutes to play. The Cheesemakers were outshot 38-35, and Xander Obert had 32 saves in net for Monroe. The Cheesemakers were whistled for eight penalties, while Whitefish Bay had just two players enter the box.

Monroe has four games remaining in its regular season — all at home. On Feb. 1, the Cheesemakers face Baraboo/Portage, followed by Madison Edgewood on Feb. 3, Sauk Prairie Feb. 7 and DeForest Feb. 11.
