Beloit tops Monroe
Season series to be decided in February

STOUGHTON — Beloit Memorial went 3-0 in the Stoughton Holiday Tournament, including a 6-2 win over Monroe on Friday, Dec. 29. 

The Purple Knights scored twice in each period and limited the Cheesemakers to goals in the first and third periods. Monroe was scoreless in the second.

Beloit outshot Monroe 57-26 and received goals from six different players — Brayden Lane, Payton Whalen, Nathan Fiebig, Max Allen, Nathan Anastasi and Jayden Piccione. Max Allen also had two assists for a team-best three points. In net, Gentry Grant stopped 24 shots for a .923 save percentage.

Cameron Newcomer and Carson Kurschner scored for Monroe. Kyle Theorin and Brock Brandli split time in net, giving up three goals apiece. 

With Monroe’s win over Beloit in their Thanksgiving Shootout, the season series is tied at one game each. The two teams play a deciding game on Feb. 8.

BELOIT 8, STOUGHTON 3

STOUGHTON — A five-goal second lifted Beloit over host Stoughton in the Holiday Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 28. 

Cole Rowald scored a hat trick to pace the Purple Knights. Four other skaters recorded two points — Lane, Gavin Brady, Sam Rowald and Marcus Allen. Grant tallied 15 saves in the win.

MONROE 5, SHEBOYGAN 2

STOUGHTON — The Cheesemakers scored three goals in the third period for nonconference win on Thursday, Dec. 28.

Patrick Alt and Wyatt Janecke recorded two goals each, while Brody Goode and Gavin Roth gathered two assists to lead Monroe with two points. Theorin stopped 39 shots for a .951 save percentage.
