BRODHEAD — The Cardinals scored a 48-7 Homecoming win over Fennimore April 23. 

Brodhead-Juda punched the ball into the end zone five times in the first quarter alone and led 48-0 with 6:09 remaining before halftime. 

Gage Boegli had a 40-yard TD run less than three minutes into the game, and just two minutes later added a 30-yard scamper to the end zone. 

Braden Cook made it a 3-score game at 20-0 with a 1-yard plunge with 4:25 left in the first, and the scoring didn’t slow from there. With 1:41 left in the frame, Blake Matthys scored from a yard out. Brodhead-Juda immediately got the ball back and Cook added a 1-yard plunge to make it 34-0 with 1:17 left in the first quarter.

With 8:31 to go in the second quarter, Aidyn Vondra broke out a 55-yard TD run. Brady Malkow then returned an interception 49 yards for a score with 6:09 left before halftime, making it 48-0.

Fennimore’s lone touchdown came with 2:17 left in the third quarter on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Max Kenney to Jacob Henkel.

Boegli carried the ball just four times for 81 yards in the contest and added a 34-yard catch. Vondra also had four touches for 88 yards, while Matthys gained 66 yards on 13 attempts. 

Brodhead-Juda intercepted four passes off Kenney, who was 5 of 22 for 101 yards in the contest.


Cuba City 28, NGM 13

CUBA CITY — The Glarner Knights beat themselves in Week 5, turning the ball over six times as the Cubans scored twice in the third quarter to take a two-score lead and seal the victory.

NGM Darris Schuett was 15 of 30 passing for 174 yards, but the Cubans caught six of the incompletions. Schuett added 111 rushing yards on 11 carries and a touchdown. Cade Femrite added 53 yards and a score on the ground for the Knights, and Nathan Streiff added eight catches for 93 yards. Streiff also had a team-high 11 tackles and a forced fumble on defense, plus two kick returns for 93 yards.

Cuba City opened the game with a 25-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter from Beau Kopp to Mason Reese. Kopp hit Cooper Johnston at the 10:02 mark of the second quarter for a 23-yard score and a 14-0 lead.

Femrite put New Glarus on the board just 67 seconds later, and with 6:01 left in the third quarter, Schuett bolted 51 yards for a touchdown. The extra point missed, and Cuba City was able to hold onto a 14-13 advantage. The Cubans then scored on a 33-yard pass with 3:13 left in the third from Kopp to Chayse Barth. Just 64 seconds later, Kopp scored on a 1-yard run.

Kopp finished 19 of 31 passing with 2 INTs. Barth had 183 yards rushing on 19 attempts and added another 59 yards on four receptions. Reese had 126 yards on 11 catches.

The Knights host Columbus in Week 6, and are scheduled for a Week 7 game against rival Belleville at home.
