ARGYLE — With a 52-43 win over Barneveld on Thursday, Feb. 8, No. 2-ranked Argyle-Pecatonica completed a perfect conference season (8-0). As separate teams last year, Argyle and Pecatonica combined for seven conference wins.
Although Thursday’s score between the Orioles (20-1, 8-0) and Eagles (10-12, 3-4) show a nine-point differential, the game was much closer. With just over two minutes left to play, Barneveld trailed just 42-41. Free throws made the difference, as Argyle-Pecatonica finished 20-for-26 from the line.
Brooke Wellnitz (17), Kylie Butler (16) and Avari Steiner (12) all finished in double figures. Wellnitz led on the glass with six rebounds. She and Butler tallied four steals each.
BLACK HAWK 76, JUDA 29
SOUTH WAYNE — The Warriors allowed just eight points in the second half en route to a Six Rivers Conference win on Friday, Feb. 9.
Black Hawk (10-12, 3-5) forced 49 turnovers leading to 47 points. Maddy Lange led the way with 20 points and 13 steals for a double-double. Kendra Haldiman also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 steals. Mya Milz was the third player in double figures with 10 points. Veronica Cheatham grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
Rianna Sullivan led Juda (1-20, 0-8) with 10 points and 16 rebounds for a double-double. Lavina Rufer tallied eight points and 10 rebounds.
BLACK HAWK 34, WARREN, Ill. 31
WARREN, Ill. — Despite being outscored 13-8 in the fourth quarter, the Warriors scrapped out a nonconference win on Thursday, Feb. 8. Black Hawk was just 2-for-10 from the free-throw line and shot 29% from the field.
Lange paced Black Hawk with 11 points and 10 rebounds for another double-double.
ALBANY-MONTICELLO 68, WISCONSIN HEIGHTS 19
MONTICELLO — The No. 4-ranked Comets got back to winning ways with a convincing nonconference win over the Division 4 Vanguards on Saturday, Feb. 10. Albany-Monticello (20-3, 6-2 Six Rivers East) allowed Wisconsin Heights (4-16, 1-8 Capitol South) to score just four second-half points.
Alana Durtschi and Abby Hollis combined for 34 points and went 6-for-8 beyond the arc. Molly Olson made a pair of threes in her 9-point total. Dalana Trumpy cleaned up the boards with seven rebounds.
NEW GLARUS 64, CAMBRIDGE 51
CAMBRIDGE — With its win over Cambridge on Saturday, Feb. 9, No. 8-ranked New Glarus earned its third straight Capitol South Conference title. This is the second consecutive year that the Glarner Knights (19-2, 9-0) have earned the title outright. Fouls and free throws were once again crucial in the win over Cambridge (15-8, 7-2), as New Glarus was 16-for-18 from the line.
Lindsey Schadewalt scored 27 points and was 13-for-13 at the charity stripe. Over her last three games, Schadewalt has made her last 37 free-throw attempts.
Elle Lancaster also finished in double figures with 14 points. Emma Martinson grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
BRODHEAD 69, MONROE 27
BRODHEAD — The Cardinals bested the Cheesemakers in every statistical category en route to a Rock Valley Conference crossover game on Saturday, Feb. 10. Brodhead (14-8, 8-5) forced 25 turnovers against Monroe (2-20, 0-12), which lead to 31 points.
Addison Yates and Allie Dahl combined for 42 points. Yates and Danica Demrow accounted for the Cardinals’ only 3-pointers. On the glass, Dahl led with eight rebounds.
Three different players scored five points to lead Monroe — Brinley Roidt, Braylee Friedrich and Lindsay Leuzinger. Abbey Matley grabbed a team-best five rebounds.
EDGERTON 69, BRODHEAD 32
EDGERTON — The No. 8-ranked Crimson Tide had three different players in double figures in their win over the Cardinals on Friday, Feb. 9. Edgerton (21-1, 13-0) forced 21 turnovers with an additional 11 steals.
Yates paced Brodhead with 10 points. Onnikah Williams grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
JEFFERSON 76, MONROE 25
JEFFERSON — The Eagles scored over half of their points in the paint in a conference win over the Cheesemakers on Friday, Feb. 9. In the second half, Jefferson (11-11, 7-6) allowed just nine points.
Sydney Wunschel led Monroe with eight points, including a pair of threes. Alexis Gertsch snagged three rebounds.
