Although the Vikings took fifth in both boys and girls divisions, the event meant much more to the team. During the boys 4x100 relay, the entire team honored teammate Jake Worthington who was in a severe accident on Thursday, May 11. Worthington was the third leg of the relay, so during his portion of the race, the entire team passed the baton to one another in a line. They wore

#jakestrong t-shirts and orange and green ribbons.

Senior Ridge Toay became a two-time conference champion, winning the 110- (16.14) and 300-meter hurdles (39.60). His time in the 300-meter hurdles broke the meet record (42.36) previously set by River Ridge’s Kevin Christ in 2012. Toay then combined with Ryan Harris, Nathan Burkeland and Sam Nelson to win the 4x400 relay (3:40.40).

On the girls side, Anna Tisch also became a two-time conference champion, also winning the 100- (17.32) and 300-meter hurdles (49.01). Her sister, Loretta, finished right behind her in both events. Like the boys, the girls 4x400 relay team — Anna Tisch, Loretta Tisch, Brianna Gaertig and Maddy Webster — also took first (4:36.01).

Despite lack of overall numbers, the Warriors took fourth in both boys and girls divisions.
