MONROE — Three local players for the Rock County Fury earned all-state hockey honors March 4, the day before competing in the WIAA girls hockey state tournament.
Monroe junior Anika Einbeck and Albany senior Haley Knauf were second-team all-state picks, while Albany junior Alyssa Knauf was an honorable mention selection. Fury coach Luke Steurer was named the Section 4 Coach of the Year.
The Fury went 14-8 in the regular season and were co-Badger Conference champions. Einbeck and the Knauf sisters all play on the Fury’s first line and scored a combined 70 of the Fury’s 120 goals, lighting the lamp nearly 60% of the time.
Einbeck scored 26 goals and had 32 assists in the regular season, while the Knauf sisters had 48 points each. All three finished in the top-10 in the state in scoring, with Einbeck third overall in total points and second in assists.
The state hockey semifinal game between the Fury and the Madison Metro Lynx was unavailable at press time. The state championship is scheduled to be played at noon on March 7 at the Alliant Energy Center.
