Kind named WFCA All-Star

MONROE - Eight area football players will play in the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Charity Football Game at noon Saturday at the J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Monroe's Charlie Kind was selected to play as a defensive back and will play on the large school South team.

Seven area players were selected to play on the small school South team including New Glarus-Monticello defensive linemen A.J. Helbach; Black Hawk safety Seth Butler; Evansville-Albany defensive back Isaiah Shell; Black Hawk running back Tanner Sweeney, Pecatonica-Argyle wide receiver Alec Treuthardt, Brodhead-Juda defensive end Mitchell Wilson and Darlington defensive end Michael Ruf.

The money raised will help benefit the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association charitable organization, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. All the players involved in this event needed to raise money in order to participate. Helbach raised more than $2,000 for the Wisconsin Children's Hospital.

Helbach is the seventh New Glarus-Monticello football player selected to play in the WFCA All-Star game, along with Mike Price, Matt Streiff, Larry Retrum, Mike Marti, Dallas Boley and Ryan Bright. Former Head Coaches Duane Schober and Jeff Eichelkraut have also coached in the WFCA All-Star game.
