MONROE - Three Monroe grads that had historic runs in high school can now add another accomplishment to their lists.

Former Cheesemaker track runners Aron Kehoe, Patrick Klein and Brett DeNure ran to Division III All-American accolades after their performances at the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships March 12 and 13 at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.

In 2007, the quartet of Kehoe, Klein, DeNure and Brandon Miles set a WIAA Division 1 state record by running the 3,200-meter relay in 7 minutes, 42.91 seconds to win a state championship.

At the Div. III championships Kehoe, a junior at UW-Whitewater, won a title in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.59, which was .027 seconds ahead of UW-River Falls' Nick Zeien. With the national championship, Kehoe broke his own school record (1:52.62) in the process. Kehoe has qualified for the NCAA Division III indoor championships three-straight years, including All-American honors with a sixth place finish in the 800 last year. Kehoe's championship was the fourth national indoor event championship in Whitewater's history and 13th overall, including outdoor titles.

DeNure, a 2009 Monroe graduate running with UW-Oshkosh, teamed with Ben Wizner, Ben Zill and Nate Stymiest to take third place in the distance medley with a time of 10:04.73.

Klein, who is a junior at UW-Platteville, finished fourth in the 1,600-meters with a time of 4:12.13. He joined the leaders right from the start, alternating between second and fourth. Fredonia's Nick Guarino kicked to win in 4:09.99, the fastest time run in NCAA III this season.
