WILLIAMS BAY - Juda freshman Hailey Kammerer and sophomore Chelsea Burkhalter both made free throws when their team needed them the most in the fourth quarter.

Burkhalter and Kammerer combined shot 10 of 14 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to propel the Panthers to a 48-36 win over Calvary Christian (Ill.) in the first-round of the Williams Bay Holiday tournament Friday. Burkhalter scored a game-high 16 points and made three 3-pointers in the first half to help the Panthers take a 23-17 lead at the half after a 17-6 second quarter run.

"We struggled from the free throw line, but it was nice to make them when it counted." Brown said. "Chelsea and Hailey made their free throws down the stretch to put the game away."

With the win, Juda improves to 4-5, 1-2 Six Rivers East. Juda senior Cheyenne Ambler scored 15 points and Kammerer chipped in seven points. With a five-point lead to start the fourth quarter, Juda sealed the game with a 15-8 run in the fourth quarter despite shooting just 15 of 26 from the free throw line.

"The last couple of games we have struggled scoring," Brown said. "We wanted to come out and get back on track."

Juda will play Williams Bay today in the championship of the tournament.
