WISCONSIN DELLS - Brodhead senior Jake Cole qualified for the state golf meet Wednesday by shooting a 73 at the WIAA Division 2 Wisconsin Dells sectional at Trappers Turn. Monroe sophomore Kyle Bruce carded a 76.
A year ago, Cole was tied for the final qualifying spot, but lost in a playoff. Cole's mark in 2010 was tied with Edgewood's Steffan Lake for fourth, just a stroke off the lead. Cole beat Lake in a playoff.
Bruce's 76 was the third highest for individuals whose team did not qualify.
Madison Edgewood won the meet with a team score of 303. McFarland was second (313).
The state meet is Monday and Tuesday at University Ridge, Madison.
