MONROE - Whether at the friendly confines or far from home, the Mat Rats had a dazzling showing last weekend.

In addition to capturing 10 gold medals at their annual home tournament held at the Monroe High School on Sunday, the Green County Family YMCA organization got a grappling start on Saturday.

The Gorr family of Traiten (3rd-4th grade), Troy (5th-6th) and Trevor Gorr (7th-8th) cleanup up hat trick style as all three earned gold medals at Saturday's invitational in Oregon. Nick Poirier, meanwhile, took a silver medal in his 5th-6th-grade division at DeWitt, Iowa on Saturday.

Robert Oliver, Adrian Sweeney, Sam Kind, Jacob Meier and Brayden Zettle all won titles in the Kindergarten-2nd division at Sunday's home tourney. Cole Murray and Traiten Gorr also took top honors in their 3rd-4th categories while Reave Lincoln and Ryan Hughes took home golds in the 5th-6th level and Trevor Gorr and Kevin Klopfenstein were triumphant in the 7th-8th division.
