MINERAL POINT - Darlington's balancing act is heading to New Glarus.

The Redbirds' boys golf team had its top four golfers score a 91 or better and all four ball-strikers were at 46 strokes through nine holes in placing fourth as a team with 355 shots.

That was the last slot for qualifying teams. The hosting Pointers won with 330 shots, while Iowa-Grant (335) and Cuba City (343) made it an all-SWAL top four Tuesday.

Darlington junior Brent Tuescher led the way with 85 shots and closed out with six straight pars or better, most notably a birdie on No. 18.

DIVISION 3

RACINE PRAIRIE REGIONAL

Alex Johnson painfully said goodbye to his friends.

Johnson led five Glarner Knight juniors with an 82, tied for third-best in Tuesday's WIAA Division 3 regional. He strung three straight 3s across the third through fifth holes.

The Knights placed seventh as a squad with 362 combined strokes. Johnson may not stroll the fairways alongside his teammates, but they'll undoubtedly be in attendance during next Tuesday's New Glarus sectional at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club.
