Golf: Badger golfers hit best balls

SAUK PRAIRIE - Further evidence of the power of the Badger Conference emerged from Lake Wisconsin Saturday.

The Cheesemakers of Monroe (327 strokes) were only bested by conference rivals Madison Edgewood (320) and McFarland (321) in the Division 2 portion of Saturday's Sauk Prairie Invitational.

Senior Gary Petit led the effort with a 10-over 80 while No. 2 Mitch McArdle and No. 3 Brandon Wilson pitched in with 82s and Aaron Krattiger had a sound 83.

Darlington earned eighth as a team with 364 shots.

Monroe hosts Oregon and Verona at the Monroe Country Club this Friday.
