GIRLS HOOPS: Black Hawk tops Albany, Darlington beats Iowa-Grant

ALBANY - The Warriors dropped the Comets 57-30 on Thursday.

Black Hawk took a 19-9 lead after the first quarter and held a 34-15 advantage at halftime.

Rachel Rygh led the Warriors with 11 points and Paige Butler added 10. Hailey Meier scored 8 points, Kim Wellnitz had 6 and Gabi Lehner scored all 6 of her points from behing the arc. Eleven Black Hawk players scored in the game.

Albany's Nicolette Blumer scored 14 points and Sydney Bump had 8.

Darlington 58,

Iowa-Grant 34

DARLINGTON - The Redbirds outscored Iowa-Grant from start to finish on Thursday.

Mariah Gibson scored 12 points and Ashley Martin added 10 for Darlington.

The Redbirds led just 9-6 after the first quarter, but outscored Iowa-Grant 17-7 in the second.

By the end of the third quarter, Darlington led 47-24. The Redbirds shot 18-for-23 from the free throw line in the game.

Cassie Fink scored 9 points, Kari Blosch had 7 and Katie Martin added 6.

Both Fink and Gibson hit two 3-pointers apiece.

Barneveld 77,

Juda 40

BARNEVELD - The Panthers hardly stood a chance against the Eagles.

Barneveld got out to an 18-4 lead afte the first quarter and 33-21 at halftime. In the second half, the Eagles outscored Juda 44-19.

Larissa Klemm scored 17 points for Juda and teammate freshman Ellen Kiser added 10.

Barneveld had four players in double figures. Caitlin Jordee scored 15 points, Brooke Allen had 14, Melissa Carmody scored 12 and Chelsey Watkins had 11.

marshall 57,

new glarus 38

MARSHALL - Two days after falling to Marshall at home, the Glarner Knights fell hard on the road.

Marshall took a 15-7 lead after the first quarter and led 31-15 by halftime.

In the third quarter, Marshall sealed the deal, outscoring the Knights 15-10.

Alycia Atwell scored 8 points and Rachel Miller added 7. Tanya Gruter and Michelle Preston each had 5.
