WISCONSIN DELLS - The Darlington-Cuba City girls golf team closed out the season with a sixth-place finish at the WIAA Division 2 Wisconsin Dells sectional on Tuesday.
The Redbirds shot a 449 as a team at the Trappers Turn Golf Club. Madison Edgewood (331) won the sectional by 50 strokes over Osseo-Fairchild. Darlington junior Naomi Black, who qualified for state last year, finished 18th after shooting a 103 and was 10 shots away from a return trip to state.
Junior Kayla Paquette finished tied for 31st with Lancaster's Ashley Adams shooting a 112. Darlington senior Shelby Poss and junior Nikki Zimmerman each finished in a three-way tie for 35th (117). Junior Sami Poss tied Wisconsin Dells junior Brianna Smith for 40th place (119).
The individual state qualifiers include Edgerton's Brooke Ferrell (83), McFarland's Erin Culver (91) and Augusta's Allie Nelson (93).
