ARGYLE - The Beavers picked up a Home Talent Night League win on Thursday, thanks to an impressive performance at the plate by Justin Crotty.
Crotty had a sacrifice fly and a 2-RBI triple, accounting for all three of Argyle's runs in a 3-2 win over Monroe.
The Brewers took a 2-1 lead in the fifth, thanks to squeeze bunts by Matt Busjahn and Kyle Klopfenstein. Monroe then took one on the chin in the top of the seventh when a hit to centerfield by Busjahn was negated off of an RBI, as Nick Diemer was tossed out at home. The run would have tied the game. The next batter struck out to end the contest.
Mike Rear, a 2009 Monroe graduate, picked up the win for Argyle. Adam Francour took the loss for the Brewers.
Monroe is home against Hollandale on Sunday and at Ridgeway Monday. Both games are slated to start at 1 p.m.
Argyle hosts Wiota Sunday.
