WISCONSIN DELLS - New Glarus got off to a slow start and lost a non-conference game to Wisconsin Dells 44-20 Saturday, Dec. 21.

The loss for New Glarus (4-5) snaps the Glarner Knights' three-game winning streak. The Chiefs played a 1-3-1 press to start the game and that sparked a 17-5 run in the first quarter. The Chiefs extended the lead to 15 points by the half.

"They went to a fullcourt press and we were really flustered and out of sorts at the beginning of the game," New Glarus coach Megan Scheele said. "Once we figured it out we couldn't hit our shots."

New Glarus senior Courtney Feller scored a team-high 16 points to lead the Knights. Wisconsin Dells' Hunter Hickey scored a game-high 21 points to pace the Chiefs.

The Knights also struggled from the free throw line, shooting just 6 of 16.

Parkview 51, Pecatonica 41

BLANCHARDVILLE - The Pecatonica girls basketball team was in a position to make a comeback to get their first win of the season in the fourth quarter.

Orfordville Parkview was able to pull away and knocked off the Vikings 51-41 in a non-conference game Saturday.

"We ran our offense better," Pecatonica coach Scott Carlson said. "We are taking baby steps. I see improvement, but it's not enough. We have to get a handle on the turnovers."

Emily Scoville led Pec with a team-high 11 points and she made three 3-pointers and she had two steals. Teammate Clara Moen added nine points.

Carlson said the key to Parkview's run was turnovers, fouls and missed shots.

Pecatonica (0-7, 0-3 Six Rivers East) will host Highland Saturday, Dec. 28.

Carlson also is having Pec focus on improving on defense.

"We have to get better at guarding people," he said. "We struggle with that. We give up too many easy points."
