PLATTEVILLE - Ryne Miller and Dan Tinoco each scored two goals to propel the Cheesemakers to a 7-0 non-conference win over Platteville Thursday, Sept. 6.

The Cheesemakers exploded for seven goals and junior goalkeeper Austin Murphy recorded his first shutout. Monroe coach Tony Vasquez said Murphy had a key save on a penalty kick to give the Cheesemakers a boost.

"The five days off we had gave us a chance to heal our injuries," Vasquez said. "We had the opportunities we have had in other games and we were able to finish them."

Miller, a Monroe freshman, scored his first goal on an assist from junior Kevin Noriega at 13 minutes, 4 seconds. Monroe senior Taylor Teasdale scored about 5 minutes later on a pass from Miller to put the Cheesemakers up 2-0. Tinoco, a junior, scored his first goal on a pass from sophomore McKenzy Foley to give the Cheesemakers a 3-0 lead at the half. The Cheesemakers were far from done.

Monroe (2-3-1) scored four second half goals to put the game away.

Noriega scored a goal on an assist from Aleksi Vainola at 49:09. Tinoco scored his second goal at 59:41 to give the Cheesemakers a 5-0 lead. Miller scored his second goal at 69:48 and Alex Hendrickson scored a goal on a pass from Teasdale to put the game away.

"We know Ryne is a freshman," Vasquez said. "We knew he had the ability to be a scorer. Going against 18-year-olds, he gets intimidated sometimes. I think this will help his confidence."
