EVANSVILLE - The Brodhead-Juda wrestling team went 4-0 at the duals in Evansville Friday.

In addition to the win over Cambridge, the Cardinals knocked off Grafton 48-27, rolled past Edgerton 51-24 and beat Janesville Craig 54-24.

Brodhead-Juda senior Hunter Colden at 170 pounds, sophomore Brady Colden (160), sophomore Logan Maurer (heavyweight) each went 4-0.

Knudtson pinned Janesville Craig's Deon Newson in 53 seconds. He pinned Grafton's Liam Pfleger in 3:35 and Edgerton's Logan Hein in 3:46.

Colden pinned Janesville Craig's Aaron Maresch in 4:24 and Edgerton's Alex Gosda in 1:13. He pinned Cambridge's Jared Kenseth in 3:46 and also received a forfeit. Hunter's brother, Brady Colden, defeated Janesville Craig's Alex Zimmerman in a technical fall 16-1 and pinned Grafton's Sam Hoffman in 3:39. Brady also pinned Edgerton's Dalton Walters in 59 seconds and won one match by forfeit.

Maurer pinned Janesville Craig's Dakota Pearson in 2:35 and Grafton's Colt Morris in 36 seconds . He won via a forfeit against Edgerton.

Brodhead-Juda junior Coty Knudtson (120), freshman Dylan Kubly (132), junior Jordan Kraak (138), sophomore Gavin Baade (182), and sophomore Reave Lincoln (220) finished 3-1.

Knudtson pinned Janesville Craig's Deon Newson in 53 seconds. He pinned Grafton's Liam Pfleger in 3:35 and Edgerton's Logan Hein in 3:46. Kubly defeated Edgerton's Robert Reynolds 5-3 and also won by two forfeits.

The only loss for Kraak came to Edgerton's Jared Heil 3-1 in overtime. He pinned Janesville Craig's Caleb Mollet in 46 seconds, pinned Grafton's Kevin Taylor and won one match by forfeit. He pinned Cambridge's Tanner Lund in 1:05.

Baade pinned Janesville Craig's Noah Vandelangenberg in 3:31 and Cambridge's Walter Kazmer in 1:10. Lincoln pinned Cambridge's Kyle Daly in 54 seconds and pinned Janesville Craig's Brock Bennitt in 1:06 and he won one match by forfeit.



Mid-State Classic

WHITEWATER - Two area wrestlers placed at the Mid-State Classic.

Pecatonica-Argyle senior Nick Gilbertson finished fifth place at 220 pounds and Sugar River sophomore Kody Popenfus took sixth.

Gilbertson edged Fort Atkinson's Ethan Foerster 4-3 in the quarterfinals. He lost to Elkhorn's Dakota Johnson 13-0 and lost a heartbreaker to Kaukauna's Tyler Nelson 2-1. In the fifth-place match, Gilbertson pinned Milwaukee Riverside's Russell Chambers in 2:37.

Popenfus pinned Wisconsin Lutheran's Jacob Roecker in 1:46 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Popenfus lost due to an injury default. He forfeited his last two matches due to the injury.
