ORFORDVILLE - Coming off tough losses consecutively to Big Foot and McFarland, Brodhead's football team was looking for a little pick-me-up Thursday heading into next week's Level 1 playoffs. The Cardinals found it in Orfordville, grounding up Parkview, 48-0.
Brodhead-Juda (7-2 overall, 5-2 in the Rock Valley South) snapped a scoring slump that had seen it score just 8 points in the past two games. The Cardinals did it all with the running game and defense Thursday.
Ethan Douglas ran for three first-half touchdowns, on runs of 17, 3 and 3 yards, to give Brodhead-Juda an 18-0 halftime lead. Douglas finished with 117 yards in 29 rushes.
The Cardinals put the game out of reach in the third quarter, which started with a defensive safety with 9:02 left in the period to make it 20-0. Brodhead-Juda then went up 28-0 on a 51-yard touchdown run by Travis Hull, and added scoring rushes by Brayden Fritsch (21 yards) and Devin Seitz (23 yards) to lead 42-0 by the end of the quarter.
Blair Chapman added a 22-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for the Cardinals.
While Brodhead-Juda was rushing for 358 yards on 46 carries, the defense limited Parkview's offense to 39 total yards. The Vikings (5-4, 3-4) gained just 27 yards in 27 carries on the ground and completed just 3 of 17 passes.

BENTON - The Vikings will miss the playoffs for the first time since 1995 after Thursday's loss.
Pecatonica-Argyle (3-6 overall, 3-5 Six Rivers) allowed 254 yards of offense to the Zephyrs, including 207 on the ground. The Vikings had 39 total yards on 33 plays in the game.
Benton-Scales Mound kicked two field goals and had touchdowns from three different players. The Zephyrs led 19-0 at halftime.
Pecatonica-Argyle had nine fumbles, losing five, while Benton lost two of five fumbles. The Vikings also managed just one first down in the game to the Zephyrs' nine.

BELLEVILLE - The Wildcats' season ended with a tough loss to Capitol-South co-conference champion Waterloo.
The Pirates (7-2, 4-1) scored 10 points in the first quarter, but Belleville-Albany (3-6, 1-4) made it 10-6 by the half. Waterloo scored six more points in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth.
Senior running back Nick Davis ran 30 times for 98 yards and scored the Wildcats' only touchdown.
Belleville-Albany fumbled 10 times, losing seven.
