BELOIT - The Brodhead-Juda wrestling team collected seven pins en route to a lopsided 63-10 victory over Beloit-Turner, clinching the Rock Valley South Conference title outright.
"It feels good," Brodhead-Juda coach Tim Colden said. "We were definitely the favorites coming in, but you never know."
The Cardinals won the first 11 matches of the night, beginning at 152 pounds where Derrick Hartman pinned Turner's Kyle Bickford in 1 minute, 43 seconds.
Brady Colden (160) then pinned Jacob Hayden in 1:50, followed by Hunter Colden (170) pinning Brad Guzman in 32 seconds.
The Cardinals won their fourth match in a row via pin, after Gavin Baade (182) defeated Brock Woodman in 2:58.
Tyler Davis (195) followed that up by defeating Turner's Sam Papendorf by 6-0 decision.
After a forfeit at 220 pounds, Logan Maurer (285) pinned Dan Draeving in 3:05.
The upper weights have been the strength of the Cardinals all season, and Tim Colden said the starting point of the match fit right into that strength.
"Tonight, we couldn't have started at a better spot than we did with the matchups we had," he said. "It just snowballed and was over quickly."
Even with the match in hand, the Cardinals continued to rack up pins.
At 126 pounds, Coty Knudtson pinned Nick Olszewski in 2:38, and Dalton Oborne (132) pinned Josh Christensen in 1:28.
Reave Lincoln (220), Jacob Rhyner (106) and Justin Sangermano (113) all won by forfeit.
Tuesday's meet was the Cardinals' last dual of the year. They will compete in a scramble tournament in Deerfield on Saturday.
