Brewers bust slump, bring bats to life

MONROE - The Monroe Brewers broke out of an offensive slump with a 9-4 Home Talent League win over New Glarus on Thursday night in South Section play.

The Brewers pounded out 13 hits. The Brewers struck first with a two-run homer by Lon Scheuerell to right in the first.

The Brewers proceeded to break the Highway 69 rivalry open with a four-run third to extend their lead to 8-0.

Ben Korth delivered a two-run single in the third. Korth earned the win on the mound. In five innings, Korth struck out nine and gave up two runs.

Rooney Janecke led the Brewers, going 4-for-4. The other multi-hit games for the Brewers included Scheuerell (2-for-4) and Mike Cleary (2-for-4).

The Brewers hope to stay hot when they play a Western Section game at 1 p.m. Sunday at Verona.
