ARGYLE - It only took Argyle only one big inning to slug its way to a 9-1 Home Talent League win over New Glarus Friday night.

Argyle (5-3) erupted for an eight-run sixth inning to give starting pitcher Jarret Bauman all the insurance runs he would need.

Bauman pitched a complete game and gave up one run on seven hits. He struck out five and didn't walk anyone.

"It was a big game for us," Argyle manager Travis Erickson said. "He (Bauman) pitched really well. We didn't play the best defense behind him with five errors. He never gave up more than one hit an inning and he did his job."

The Beavers' offense did more than their job in an eight-run sixth. Jon Wild singled in the sixth and Joe Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, reached when New Glarus starting pitcher Kyle Spurley hit him. Dan Godfrey then delivered a two-run single to give the Beavers a 3-1 lead. Justin Crotty followed with an RBI single. Andy Bohlman reached on an error that allowed another run to score.

"When Andy Bohlman reached in the No. 9 hole, that kind of re-started us," Erickson said.

The Tourists (1-6) had trouble getting out of the inning with two errors and allowed the Beavers to score two runs on a passed balls. Erickson reached on an error and New Glarus relief pitcher Ryan Hendrickson walked two batters. Johnson then came through with a two-run single.

The Beavers jumped out to an early lead in the first. Erickson singled to right center. Joe Johnson then crushed an RBI double to center to score Erickson to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead.

New Glarus' Griff Rear, who was 2-for-4, doubled to left leading off the third. The Tourists came back to tie the game in the third after Argyle's Godfrey dropped a fly ball that allowed Rear to score to tie the game at 1.

Argyle had a golden scoring opportunity in the bottom of the third with the bases loaded and one out. However, Spurley was able to pitch out of the ham.

The third looked like a promising inning when Bohlman led off by lining a single to right. Erickson then moved him into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Tyler Ritschard then lined a single to left and Spurley walked Wild to load the bases. However, he got Johnson to ground into an inning-ending double play.

The Tourists struggled to get their offense kick-started going 0-for-9 hitting with runners in scoring position through the first four innings and left six runners on base.

Kevin Speth also finished 2-for-4 for the Tourists, who will play Monroe at 7:30 p.m. today in New Glarus. Argyle will play Monroe in a rescheduled game that was rained out at 3 p.m. Sunday in Argyle.
