The Monroe Avalanche escaped last weekend with just one blemish on their record and a tie, losing Saturday, 4-2, to Fond du Lac and skating even Sunday with Appleton, 4-4.
Gottlieb Brandli III opened the scoring for the Avalanche Saturday with an unassisted tally in the second period. He then found Brayden Fritsch with a pass in the third period and recorded an assist on Monroe's last goal.
On Sunday, Connor Lind and Mark Hoesly had a goal and an assist in the second period to keep the Avalanche even with Appleton. Bryan Daley had a helper on Hoesly's goal.
Joe Ganshert had Monroe's first goal in the game thanks in part to Jamie Moats' assists. Tyler Briggs had an unassisted score in the third period.
Derek Lewis made 39 saves in the two games.
