DARLINGTON - The Darlington football team had a strong playoff run this season, and several Redbirds have been recognized for their success.
Darlington senior Jordon Bryson was selected co-Lineman of the Year along with Iowa-Grant's Bryant Edge. Bryson was selected for the first team Southwest Activities League All-Conference team as an offensive lineman and defensive end.
Darlington senior Tanner Andrews also was selected first team all-conference on offense (tight end) and defense (linebacker).
Junior Alex Erickson was named first team all-conference as a defensive back and second team as a quarterback. Erickson had 2,110 total yards (1,235 rushing and 875 passing) with 30 touchdowns in guiding a prolific Redbirds' offense to a co-SWAL Conference championship with Cuba City and Iowa-Grant. Iowa-Grant junior quarterback Cole Solomon was a first team all-conference selection. The Redbirds reached the WIAA Division 5 quarterfinals, where they lost to Lancaster, 35-19.
Darlington senior Mark Brugger was selected first team all-conference as a defensive tackle. Lincoln Bryson was named a first team all-conference offensive lineman and second team as a defensive end.
The Redbirds have four other second-team all-conference players, including senior running back Aaron Stauffacher, senior wide receiver Trynton Schwartz, junior offensive lineman Bryan Reichling and junior linebacker Colton Hackett.
Darlington's Jason Boll received honorable mention all-conference.
Iowa-Grant's Edge also was named Defensive Player of the Year, while the Panthers' Kyle Riemenapp was named Offensive Player of the Year.
