Robert “Bob” J. Dunlavey, age 85, of Monroe, died on Monday, April 20, 2020 at his home. He was born on January 4, 1935 in Argyle, Township, the son of Walter and Helen (Gibbons) Dunlavey. Robert and Betty Boeck were united in marriage on February 27, 1960 in Belleville.

Bob served in the 101st U.S. Army Airborne serving from July 1957 – April 1959. He then served on active Army Reserves, being discharged in May 1963.

Bob worked for General Motors in Janesville for nearly 35 years and also worked part time at Ruda Chevrolet for many years doing auto-body work in conjunction with his work at GM.

He loved fishing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of 60 years, children: Doreen (Randy) Babler of Monroe, David (Karri) Dunlavey of Mineral Ridge, OH, Kim (Gary) Schwartzlow of Monroe, Daniel Dunlavey of Monroe; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna (Ray) Knutson of Rockford, IL; and sister-in-law, Karen Dunlavey of Winslow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Neuenschwander; 6 brothers, Joe, Francis, Charles, Walter, Paul and Donald Dunlavey.

A private family service will be held, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. A public celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date.
