BROWNTOWN – Rachel Ann Burwitz age 73 passed away on Thursday December 23, 2021 at FHN Memorial Hospital Freeport IL. She was born on October 20, 1948 the daughter of Ray and Neva (Filter) Hayter. She graduated from Evansville High School Class of 1966. Rachel married William "Bill" Burwitz on August 15, 1970 and they celebrated 46 years of marriage until Bill's death on August 15, 2016.
She attended U.W. Platteville where she earned a Bachelor and Master’s degree. She was employed for 35 years by the School District of Monroe teaching Elementary Education. She was a member of Peace Church in Christ, Browntown, ADK Sorority (Omicron Chapter Monroe); VFW Auxiliary Post 6903, Green County Retired Education Association; Wisconsin Retired Educators Association.
Rachel loved family and visiting, playing Sudoku puzzles, board games, watching her favorite TV shows. and she loved to read especially her Bible.
She is survived by her children; Kalyn (Jeremy) Timmons, Kara (Shane) Schulte, grandchildren; Christian "Cecilia" Timmons, Nathaniel Timmons, Chase Schulte, Devan Schulte, sister Barbara Baertschi, nieces and nephews, in-laws; Jim (Janet) Burwitz, Betty (Tom) Gall, Pooh her faithful companion.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents, and parents’ in-laws Quentin and Emily Burwitz, nephew Joshua Burwitz.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday January 4, 2022 at Ward-Hurtley Funeral Home Evansville with Reverend Scott Cernek officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Lawns Memorial Park Janesville. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
