Paul E. Sniff, age 72, of Monroe, died Saturday, December 17, 2022 at his home following a long illness. Paul was born on November 4, 1950 in Dodgeville, WI, the son of Eugene L. and Marion F. (Corbin) Sniff. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1968 and attended U.W. Whitewater where he studied business.  He entered the U.S. Army in 1970 and served with the 5th Battalion while stationed in Leavenworth, Kansas. He was honorably discharged in 1971.  

Paul and Janell Hauck were united in marriage on April 14, 1972 in Leavenworth. They owned/operated the Willow Creek Dairy Farm in Mineral Point from 1974-1979 until moving to Monroe. Paul was a partner in Alphorn Ford in Monroe and Wisconsin Rapids Ford from 1979 until 1997. He then was employed part time as a realtor/developer from 1985 until 2022.  He was actively involved in the Monroe community serving as president of the Jaycees and chamber of commerce, and was on the board of directors of the Monroe Country Club and Alpine Curling Club. Paul was served as Alderman 3rd Ward City of Monroe Common Council, Vice Chair Board of Public Works, and Chair of Salary and Personnel & Airport Board Management. He was also instrumental in developing the Monroe Balloon Rally and was co-creator of the World Honda Balloon Championship. Paul was an avid golfer and curler, enjoyed annual trips with Jan to Arizona, and always enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren at the farm.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jan Sniff of Monroe; daughter, Tara (Greg) Anderson of Orangeville, IL; son, Brian (Leslie) Sniff of Pewaukee; three grandchildren, Caleb and Corinne Sniff, Grant Anderson; his brother, James (Jeanie) Sniff of Verona; and nephew, Brendan (Michelle) Sniff of Jackson, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 12:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor Joe Corbin officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on January 14th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Paul’s name for SSM Monroe Hospice.
