Michael Aaron Kahl, age 36, of Gratiot passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at his home. He was born the son of Michael E. and Sally (McKibben) Kahl on October 6, 1987 in Monroe. He was a 2006 graduate of Black Hawk High School.

Michael was a certified nursing assistant for the Lori Knapp Association. He had a big heart, and always stepped up to help take care of his family. He enjoyed going hunting and fishing, not only for the sport but also to spend the time with friends and family.  He loved lotto tickets, comics, and telling jokes.

Michael is survived by his mother, Sally of Monroe; sisters, Lauranna Placek of Bend, OR, Tina Kahl of Bruce, WI, and Valerie (George) Scott of Crawfordsville, IN; as well as nieces and nephews: Amanda, Alicia, Marcus, Olivia, Karly, and Ashley; great niece, Paislee.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Eugene Kahl; paternal and maternal grandparents; sister, Mackayla in infancy; and aunt, Donna Phelps.

A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Saucerman cemetery, at a later date.
