Masey Louise Farrell, age 5 passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from an aggressive and rare form of cancer called Pleuropulmonary Blastoma (PPB). She was born on May 24, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison the daughter of Gabe Farrell and Meagan Farrell. Masey battled the terrible disease for 2.5 years and there were so many moments that if it were not for her bald head and NG tube you never would have known. She lived life with a “We Can Do Hard Things” attitude every day and constantly reminded us that while her experiences were so much bigger than a child that she was just that, still a kid. There wasn’t a prank that Masey didn’t try or an unseized opportunity for a devious smirk. She could be found walking the halls of P4 before 1st shift started or sneaking her tablet under her sheets to watch youtube late at night. If she wasn’t eating strawberries or drinking milk, she was sneaking chocolate kisses from the candy cupboard or begging for Culvers frozen custard. With her comrades JoJo, Bun Bun and kitty blankie by her side - she was never alone. There was no snuggle that went unanswered for Masey Moose. Surrounded by so much love from every direction she looked. A big sister who always knew the exact demeanor Masey needed and a little brother who knew the exact buttons to push. A precocious girl who still knew the weight an “oh poop” joke carried.
Masey is survived by her mother Meagan Farrell, father Gabe Farrell, sister Olivia, and brother Colton. She is further survived by her grandparents Jim and Jill Farrell and Bert and Trish Paris, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents Harold and Beatrice May, great-grandmother Caryl Farrell, and uncles Tim and Jake Farrell.
A private family visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. preceding the private family Mass of Christian of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 S. Harrison St., with Rev. Mark Miller officiating.
A public celebration of Masey’s life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the C.H. Hageman Gymnasium at the Belleville Elementary School, 101 S. Grant. St., Belleville, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the PPB registry to support future research or the Child Life program at the American Family Children’s Hospital.
