Mary “Misty” A. Isely

Mary “Misty” A. Isely, age 90 of Monroe, died Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on August 18, 1931 in Monroe, the daughter of William and Naomi (Cecil) Walters. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1949. Misty married Roger R. Isely on June 10, 1949 in Monroe. She worked on the farm with her husband for years and then worked at Commercial Savings Bank for 28 1/2 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, she belonged to the Flying farmers, and was Queen in 1971, Treasurer for the Green County chapter of American Cancer Society; she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and when her husband was alive, traveling.

She is survived by two daughters, Dianna (David) Sorenson of South Wayne and Shani (Joel) Spangler of Monroe; daughters-in-law, Sue Isely of Monroe and Robin Isely of Beloit; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Beverly (Raul) Rivera of Austin, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Randy and Michael Isely; grandson, Scott Sorenson; brother, William Jr. and sister, Rose Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 24, 2021 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, with Reverend Tiff Bates officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
