Mary Joan (Berg) Everson

Mary Joan (Berg) Everson, age 93, of Monroe and formerly of South Wayne, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on March 27, 1929, first born twin daughter to Rudy and Irma (Andrews) Berg in Monroe. Joan, as she was called, attended Argyle High School.

Joan and Burdean Everson were married February 8, 1948 at the East Wiota Lutheran Church. They farmed in the South Wayne area until 1970 when they moved into South Wayne, they then moved to Monroe in 1994.

Joan worked at Swiss Colony and provided daycare for many area children. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, South Wayne and attended Grace Lutheran Church, once she moved to Monroe. She was an active quilter with the ladies of Our Savior’s providing sheets and material for the mission quilts as well as helping tie them. She was a member of Sons of Norway, Monroe and the Women of the Moose Lodge #544 in Monroe.

Joan is survived by 5 of her children: Mary (Randy) Roderick, Monroe, Dennis (Janice) Everson, Waupaca, Barbara (Jeff) Bidlingmaier, Browntown, Sarah (Jay) Goebel, Monroe, and Tina (Keith) Ritschard, Argyle. 15 Grandchildren: Trisha (Dan) Priewe Frankland; Wendy (Mark) Priewe Flanagan, Lynn (Eric) Roderick Sorensen, Dawn (John) Roderick Goltz, Erik (Zeneda White) Everson, Kyle (Trisha Weiland) Everson, Angela (Mike) Bidlingmaier Wirth, Amy (Troy) Bidlingmaier Mahon, Ashley (Chuck) Bidlingmaier Bredeson, Joshua (Amanda Lewis) Goebel, Justin Goebel, Jolene (Taylor) Goebel Hilliard, Melissa (Brian Rufener) Ritschard, Elizabeth (Jesse) Ritschard Halvorsen, and Brent (Payton Zurfluh) Ritschard. 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.  Joan is also survived by her sister, Joyce (Berg) Moen and her sister-in-law, Winogene (Melland) Everson, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burdean in 1996; her parents, her son, Kenneth B., son in law, Paul C. Priewe, and granddaughter, Kristi Ritschard;  her twin sister, Mildred Jean (Alfred) Meier; sister, Cynthia (Bob) Seffrood; brother, Russell (Darlene) Berg, and brother-in-law, Lester Moen.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in South Wayne with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will follow service in East Wiota Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00PM on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
