Martin D. “Marty” Gobeli, age 60, of Browntown died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veteran Hospital, Madison. Marty was born on June 27, 1963 in Monroe, the son of Theodore L. and Myra B. (Olson) Gobeli. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1981 and served in the U.S. Army for four years. He was a paratrooper and served in Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada. Marty enjoyed working as a dump truck driver for E&N Hughes for the past four years. He always enjoyed family get- togethers and spending time with friends.  Whether it was feeding or taking in strays, Marty loved all types of animals. In his spare time, Marty could be found riding his Harley, four wheeling, or mushroom hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Gobeli; daughter, Erina (Adam) Williams of Texas; son, Justin Weber of Arizona; and several grandchildren. He is further survived by five brothers and two sisters, Randy (Teresa), Ron (Vickie), Richard (Gerry Ann), Jerry (Ernestina), Dave (Lori), Wendy (Frank) Warner, Vicki (Joe) Pizzolato; sister-in-law, Lisa Gobeli; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Wayne and Marilyn Mau of Browntown. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dan; and nephews, Corey, Zach, and Brad.

A celebration of Marty’s life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #84, 1627 12th Avenue, Monroe. Inurnment will be at a later date in Saucerman Cemetery, Cadiz Township. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Marty’s name for the Green County Humane Society. Marty was the first organ donor at the V.A. Hospital and his family was honored to take part in the honor walk prior to his organ surgery.
