M. Bernadette “Bernie” (McDonald) Stoudt, age 74, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024. Bernie was born on May 27, 1950, in Monroe, Wis., the oldest daughter of John and Kay (McArdle) McDonald. Bernie grew up in a close-knit family, sharing many wonderful adventures with her sisters, brother, and many cousins. After graduating from Argyle High School in 1968, Bernie attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Bernie met and married Bob Gloyd. They welcomed their daughter, Almeda Ann, in 1971, and settled in Madison. Bernie enjoyed a long and industrious career working in HR for a variety of businesses. She volunteered for and belonged to many charitable organizations.
Bernie is survived by her daughter, Ann Christensen; granddaughters, Katherine and Alanna; her stepchildren, Bud (Terry) Stoudt and Leslie (Dan) Metz, and their son, Shane Metz, and daughter, Elizabeth Metz. She is additionally survived by her sisters, Patti (John) Herda, Jan Kaster, Erin (Jeff) Yarrows; and her brother, Brian (Susanna) McDonald. She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Daniel “Dan” Stoudt Jr., who passed away in November 2017; her parents, John and Kay McDonald; her sister, Gail McDonald; her grandson, Derek Metz; and her nephew, William “Will” Herda.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO MOUNT HOREB FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, and also at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.
