Irene K. Gille, age 96 of rural Gratiot, WI passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington, WI. She was born July 7, 1922 in Gratiot the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Korn) Gille. Irene graduated from Gratiot High School in Gratiot and later from Platteville Normal School where she received a teaching degree. She taught 40 years in the Shullsburg School District in Shullsburg, WI (20 years in rural schools and 20 years in town). Irene lived on the Gille Family Farm her entire life.

Irene was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gratiot and a proud member of the Teachers Association. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, taking small trips, playing cards with her many friends, and going to numerous dinners and plays at the Fireside Theater in Fort Atkinson, WI. Irene lived a full life, full of positivity, and making sure every moment counted. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister: Gladys (Joe) Edge.

A Time of Family Remembrances by Rev. Glenn Andes will be held Monday, April 15, 2019 at 10:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (5685 Main St., Gratiot) with Rev. Sudhakar Devarapu officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Gratiot. A visitation will be held Monday, April 15, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church.
