George R. Frey age 86 of Argyle, Wisconsin passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born November 21, 1932 In Chicago, IL the son of George F. Frey and Mary Maloney.  George attended High School in Darien, WI. He was united in marriage to Catherine Kenney on February 23, 1957 in Chicago, IL.  

George is survived by his wife Catherine in Argyle; children: George (Sue) Frey of Muskego, WI, Maggie (Steve) Frey Zoellner of East Troy, WI, Joanne (Gary) Eisenzimmer of Mineral Point, WI, and Kathleen Frey Peterson of Blanchardville, WI; a son-in-law: Steve Larson of Blanchardville; grandchildren: Amy, Zachary (Kylie), Nicholas (Lauren), Kellen (Erin), Garry, Anna, Monica, Sean, Nathan, Kevin, Kelly, and Daniel: and two great-grandchildren: Wyatt, and Blair; a sister: Catherine (James) Swieca of St. Louis, MO.  He is preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter Beth Larson.

George served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. He was a Korean War veteran and served as a Corporal. He was awarded the Bronze star. He started his college career at Loyola University and ultimately completed his degree in History from the University of Wisconsin Platteville in 1992 at the age of 59. After a 20-year career in sales, George moved to rural Argyle, WI and began dairy farming. He was a proponent of nature conservation and was interested in coin collection and archery. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Argyle, a branch of St. Isidore Parish (213 N. Lafayette St, Argyle) with Rev. Paul Eruva officiating.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
