The world lost a wonderful soul on Monday, April 18, 2022; Gaylord G. Schultz, age 78, of South Wayne, WI passed away in his home. He was born in Monroe, WI on August 10, 1943, to Mervin and Eleanor (Jorgenson) Schultz, and graduated high school from South Wayne in 1962. Gaylord married Joyce Burmeister, on June 7, 1969, at Apple Grove Lutheran Church in Argyle, WI.  He farmed for his aunt and uncle after high school and joined the National Guard in 1965.  He purchased a dairy farm, which he had initially rented, in 1967 which became his family’s home farm.  He purchased additional land, and a second farm, in later years.

Gaylord was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Warren, IL, and also held membership with the American Legion Post 0084, and Zion County Club.  Following the loss of the love of his life, he became passionate about watching dirt track stock car racing at the Layfette County Speedway, and eventually owned, managed, and sponsored numerous cars throughout the remainder of his life.  Gaylord was devoted to his life as a dairy farmer; he was progressive in his early interest for organic farming, and was honored to be invited to host a county-wide breakfast on his farm twice.  He was well known, respected, and loved throughout his community, and relished time spent visiting to anyone he ever crossed paths with.

Gaylord is survived by his 4 daughters: Val (Joel) Steinmann of Brodhead, WI, Traci (Nitin) Ganatra of San Jose, CA, Gina (Todd) Leonard of Hollandale, WI, and Amy (Mike) Schubert of Verona, WI; grandchildren: Sidney (Nik) Rettinger, Koel (Laken) Steinmann, Noah and Joie Steinmann, Kiran and Jacob Ganatra, Nate, Lexie, Tyra, Luke and Bo Leonard, and Keane and Kamden Schubert; great grandchildren: Brantley and Ila Joyce Steinmann; brothers: Louis Schultz, Eugene (Neva) Schultz, Keith (Julia) Schultz; sisters: Eileen (Roger) Kubly, and Linda Obert; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce in 2006, infant daughter and infant great grandson, Winston Steinmann, and honorary son, Brad Butler.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Warren, IL.  A visitation will be held from 9:00am until time of service.
