Forrest R. “Forry” Ladwig, age 89 of Monroe, died Monday, October 29, 2018 at Azura Memory Care. Forrest was born on November 19, 1928 at the Deaconess Hospital in Monroe, the son of Sam and Crystal (Ross) Ladwig. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953. He married Alice Wickey on October 11, 1958 at the East Wiota Lutheran Church. Forrest farmed on the family farm in Sylvester Township from 1953 until 1990 and then did custom baling for several years. During the 1980’s Forrest and Alice raised show horses and were members of the Wisconsin Paint Horse Club. Forrest was a member of the Monroe Moose Lodge #754 and various farm organizations. Some of his favorite pastimes were coyote hunting with his friends, archery, and watching the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers. He and Alice were proud to host the Green County Dairy Breakfast in 1986.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice Ladwig of Monroe; a sister-in-law, Donna Ladwig of Monroe; a special cousin, Marvin Golz of Brooklyn; nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Duane Ladwig in 1978; a brother, Clifford Ladwig; three sisters, Dorothy Chesebro, twin sister Phyllis Burgi, and Frances Friedrichs.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Booth officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials are preferred to Monroe Moose Lodge #754, Monroe United Methodist Church, or other local charity organizations.
