Evelyn Rose Vavra, age 76 of Juda, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at SSM-St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She was born the daughter of Cecil and Viola (Ellefson) Fox on June 18, 1946. After attending country school she was a graduate of South Wayne High School.

Evelyn worked at Eagle Foods for 12 years and waitressed for many years throughout Monroe; she especially enjoyed running an in-home daycare for 10 years. She attended Zion United Methodist Church in Juda.

Evelyn enjoyed traveling with her significant other, Gary Preston; they went on several cruises, trips to Mexico, and spent a lot of time in Florida where they made many friends. She also loved getting together with her high school classmates for lunch regularly.

Evelyn is survived by her significant other of 36 years, Gary Preston of Juda; children, Scott (Lisa) Vavra of Juda and Tammy Vavra of Monroe; grandchildren, Brandon, Cody, Kelsey, Natalee (fiancé, Nathan Berning), and Hailey; siblings, Duane (Monica) Fox and Kathy (Curt) Obert; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Carolyn in infancy; and nephew, Danny Fox.

A Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 1:00-4:00PM at the Juda Community Center. A private family burial in Calvary Cemetery will take place at a later date.
