Elaine Ellen Winzenried, age 93, of New Glarus formerly of Monroe passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the New Glarus Home. She was born the daughter of Carl and Gladys (Olsen) Brennecke on November 25, 1928 in Antigo. She was a graduate of Monroe High School. Elaine was united in marriage to William Winzenried and together they had four children.

Elaine had a passion for fun and loved to laugh. She proudly took care of her family and her home, and was always seeking an adventure which became evident by her accumulation of outdoor toys. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf, canoeing, sailing, and playing on the water in her Sea Eagle rubber raft. In her later years, she enjoyed conversing with her friends at the Monroe American Legion, working on puzzles and watching the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers. Elaine was loved by many for her fantastic sense of humor and infectious laugh.

Elaine is survived by her children, Mark (Annette) Winzenried, Dan Winzenried, Judy (Brian) Thompson, and Mary Murphy; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Dorothy Weatherhead.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery.
