Daniel E. “Butch” Hanson, 70, of rural Argyle, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at his home. Dan was born on June 15, 1952 in Monroe, the son of Leo D. and Mary A. (Hegi) Hanson. He attended Mills and Woodford grade schools and graduated from Blackhawk High School in 1970. Dan farmed his entire life on the family farm in Wiota Township. He enjoyed playing cards at The VI in South Wayne and loved to fish especially on his trips to Canada.

He is survived by his siblings, Lorraine (David L.) Deininger of Monroe, Barbara Holverson of Fayetteville, GA, David C. Hanson of Monroe; nephews, Ryan (Lauren) Holverson, Adam Deininger; and good friends, Jimmy, Tara, Brianna, and Brady Hagen. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation for Dan will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 1329 31st. Avenue, Monroe. A memorial fund will be established in his name. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
