     Crystal Lynn Beer, age 39, of Brodhead passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at her home. She was born the daughter of James and Chris (Althaus) Beer on June 5, 1983 in Monroe. She was a 2001 graduate of Monroe High School; she also earned her Bachelor of Science at Oregon State University in 2006. Crystal was united in marriage to Dan LeRoy Welch on May 19, 2018, in Sauk City, WI.

In high school Crystal was a major letter winner in volleyball. Crystal began as a member of 4-H when she was young and continued as a leader and Superintendent for the photography and rabbit projects. She loved mentoring and coaching children; they added meaning and depth to her life. Crystal spent many hours with her father over the past few years taking photographs for his books, and they were very proud of the work they created together. Crystal was an intensely caring and loyal wife, daughter, granddaughter, and sister. She would give the world to make sure the people she loved were taken care of. Crystal spent her Wednesday nights bowling with her Aunt Joan, cousin Sarah, and dear friend Betty. Crystal was employed as a Quality Assurance Manager at Luminex-Diasorin in Madison.  

Crystal is survived by her husband, Dan of Brodhead; parents, James (Olga) Beer and Chris (Mark Chojnacki) Beer all of Monroe; parents-in-law, Mary and James Welch of Marshall, WI; maternal grandparents, Walter and Eileen Althaus of Albany; brothers, Alex Beer of Monroe, Artem (Gretchen) Beer of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Jennifer Beer of Fond du Lac and Tara (Vikas Arora) Beer of Burlingame, CA; nephew, Nikolai Beer; niece, Avni Arora; aunt, Jacki (Todd) Sutherland; and many great-aunts, great-uncles, and many, many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Fred and Lillian Beer; her uncle, Rick Althaus; and aunt, Phyllis Beer.  

A celebration of Crystal’s life will be held at a later date. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
