Belva “Mary” Tway, age 93 of Albany, died Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on July 24, 1930 in Viroqua, Wisconsin, the daughter of Bernard and Vera (Wallace) McCoy. Mary married the love of her life Loyal “John” Tway on October 4, 1947 in Viroqua. To this union they added 5 sons and 2 daughters. 

Mary worked as a cook in the Albany School, Apco in Brodhead for 20 years, and Ogden in Albany for 3 years. She was formerly a member of Peace Church in Brooklyn, and belonged to Albany Legion Auxillary.

Mary’s kitchen was always a gathering place and was full of homemade baked goods, breads, donuts, cinnamon rolls, cookies, pies, and the best chicken and noodles.  The old kitchen table was a gathering place of love of family and friends for coffee and conversation for all.  Many hugs and I love you’s.

She is survived by her children: Edward (Linda) Toohey of Casper, WY, Elisabeth (Fay) Briggs of Albany, James (Karen) Tway of Evansville, Karen (Gary) Gill of Juda, and Timothy (Sandi Harlson) Tway of Evansville; special fiancé of Bruce, Sandi Horst; 17 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Harold McCoy of Hillsboro, WI; sisters: Ethel Kanable of Richland Center and Marjorie Schweiger of Hillsboro, WI; and many special nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons: Douglas and Bruce Tway; grandson, Bradley Briggs.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Albany United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Moe officiating. Burial will take place at Hillcrest cemetery, Albany.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 at the church.  Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
