The Wegmueller Family Farm is owned and operated by Becky, Ashley and Dan Wegmueller. The family has a long connection to the farm, dating from the 1930s, when Dan Wegmueller's great-grandfather purchased the property at a sheriff's auction. Over the generations, the farm grew from its original 130 acres and evolved from raising pigs, horses, sheep, chickens, beef and dairy, to an enterprise focused entirely on grass-based dairy and crops. Today, 60 Registered Brown Swiss and several horses and donkeys call the farm home.
It is the second time the family has hosted the Green County Breakfast. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event being held on the Wegmueller farm.
In 1990, John and Becky Wegmueller and their young children, Genia, David, Dan and Sarah, along with John's parents, Ernest and Ruth, hosted the breakfast. Since then, Genia obtained degrees in theater and fine arts. An accomplished musician and vocalist, she resides locally with her husband Craig Allard, and sons Samuel and Jesse.
David graduated from the United States Naval Academy, and is currently serving as LCDR in the United States Navy. He and his wife Christie have three children, Faith, Grant, and Brooke.
Sarah earned a degree in International Relations, and a double minor in East Asian Studies and Mandarin Chinese. A graduate of Pace Law School and Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, she resides in Westport, Connecticut, with her husband, Chris Kettenmann.
Dan studied agriculture locally and overseas in Australia, New Zealand, and throughout Europe. He attended college through University of Wisconsin-Platteville and La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, where he majored in business with an understudy in Marine Ecology. In addition to agriculture, Dan, and his wife Ashley are engaged in music performance, general aviation, scuba diving, and share a love of travel.
With John Wegmueller's death in early 2014, Dan has taken over operation of the crops and dairy, and he and Ashley plan to purchase the farm from Becky.
